Hanging Lamp

This lamp served as a simple study of new materials and techniques based around my personal style. The lamp's overall form was created out of poplar on a wood lathe and was then translated to the lamp's final material, plastic, on a simple vacuforming machine.

Liane: Sculpture Ring

This ring unifies two very different materials, sterling silver and teak wood, and bonds them in such a way so that they both contrast and balance each other at the same time. An internal structure within the wood connects all the silver parts together with metal.

Clouds: Sculpture Ring

Highlighted by three levels suspended on a wire, this ring's overlapping faces and bored holes allow it to generate interesting effects when exposed to weather. The ring is made of silver and incorporates a bezel setting of an onyx cabochon.

Pierced Cuff

This cuff was an attempt to capture some internal human dealings in metal. The inner cuff, made of copper, has many intricate piercings that symbolize everyone's elements of personality. The outer cuff, made of nickel silver, has two large piercings which reveal the smaller ones and represents the way we portray ourselves to the outside world. The upper part also subtly peels away from the lower part suggesting a sort of freedom from social expectations. The two parts are riveted together with tubing on one side.

USBird

Based around an idea I had in a foundations art class, these cedar birds are permanently attached to a low-level USB powered light source that emits a soft glow through the simplified bird's eyes and beak. These are meant to be fun little things to attach to your computer as decor, specifically while in a working environment that isn't so personal.

Angela: Shelf Clock

I designed and built these clocks around standard wall-clock parts. The case is made entirely of wood. Certain accents, including the clock hands, are also made of wood. The clock can be positioned either horizontally or vertically (and the clock mechanics are easily adjusted from behind) for quick adaptation to any space. The face is housed behind plexiglass.

Garden Tool Handles

The majority of low cost garden tools are sold with little consideration given to handle quality. These more ergonomic handles show how easy it is to exchange an uncomfortable round handle to one that fits better in the hand and provides a much better gardening experience at little additional cost to anyone. A dense foam model was used to create a silicone rubber mold which was then used to cast the handles out of urethane plastic resin.

Mixer One

This is a physical model of my visual take on a rechargeable kitchen mixer. When the mixer isn't being used, it stands upright and the beaters are inserted into the vertical slots that are found on opposite sides of the body. The result is a sculptural solution that would allow for the device to stay out in the open in the modern home.

Utility Knives

These functional utility knives served as form studies and material experiments. The knife at the top is made of Spanish Cedar and the bottom one of painted polyurethane foam. Both knives can be held comfortably in at least 3 different ways, providing an optimum experience for the greatest amount of people.

Plaster Forms

Often times I'll find myself attempting to work with new elements to see what type of results I get when I apply my particular style and work ethic into a new type of process or material. This is a plaster sculpture of an organic form.

Beneflix Branding

I've worked extensively with Beneflix, an upcoming social networking website that aims to leverage the momentum of the internet world in order to do good in the real world. I created an overall brand for the company and helped to define guidelines that keep all Beneflix artifacts consistent. My work for this project included the logo, business cards, brochures, and other materials integral to the site's function.

The Salon Experience Study

I, along with four other teammates, recently had the chance to conduct an extended contextual research study on salons in the Savannah area. Our primary goal was to find opportunities that would enhance customer experience and overall business function, not just for the individual sites we looked at, but for the entire industry. I conducted passive observation sessions, interviews, and gathered photo documentation. I also created presentations and put together the book of our findings.

Campaign: Think Before You Waste

A series of posters I created to raise awareness about unnecessary wastefulness. The key was to capture interest and then motivate the viewer to make a choice that simply makes sense. The problem is identified: too many bottles, a solution is given: find a reusable one, and a subjective motivator suggested: "they're better anyway."

Metaliner

Metaliner is a new endeavor of mine to create engaging software solutions for the Mac. Currently it's a three person team and we're developing products in our free time. I've designed all aspects of the brand and am solely responsible for crafting the software's human-computer interfaces.

Cha-Ching

This project is a great example of some of the larger scope work I've done in the past mostly because it had me applying both my graphic and interaction design skills. I created the software's look, user experience, and marketing. The premise: an easy way to manage your finances on Mac OS X. Adobe Photoshop.

MacZOT! Website

MacZOT! was a website that sold one Mac OS X application per day at a discounted price. I wanted to create a simple one-page one-stop-shop for users; allowing visitors to view, discuss, and purchase an application all without leaving a single page. Adobe Photoshop.

MainMenu Website

A simple webpage like this is a good example of the type of marketing style shareware software developers like to use to sell their individual applications. Adobe Photoshop.
